Egyptian Ritual Meditation

When we meditate we open channels within ourselves which tap into natural forces present in the universe. The 8 Egyptian Goddesses represent different aspects

of the great feminine principle, a light, love, and life affirming spectrum of these natural forces.

By aligning our consciousness with one of the goddesses in meditation, we are enabled to experience and work with the truth, wisdom, and energy she embodies. The ritual aspect of this meditation system is a means of transition. It provides us with a way to move from our daily active life to a relaxed and protected space where we can safely open up to the higher energies which the goddesses represent.  It is very important to feel centered and grounded before practicing this meditation system. It is NOT recommended to do this meditation technique if you are undergoing any type of clinical therapy or drug treatment. This meditation system is transformative and will enhance whatever is going on in your life. You must feel clear-headed and stable otherwise you might find yourself facing a part of yourself you are not quite ready to deal with.

Choosing the appropriate Goddess

Each Goddess represents an aspect of the Great Feminine Principle and embodies her own unique wisdom, knowledge, and energies.

Listed in the Goddess Chart are the individual attributes of the 8 Goddesses - what they symbolize and represent, the best candle

colour and incense, most favourable moontimes to meditate, as well as their specific wisdom-gifts. Look to an astrological euphemeris horoscope magazine or web site to locate what zodiacal sign the moon is in. Also take note of the lunar phases. The days

surrounding the full moon are the most favourable times to meditate while the dark of the moon phase is the least favourable. Earth signs include Taurus, Virgo, and Capricorn. Water signs include Pisces, Cancer, and Scorpio. Air signs include Gemini, Aquarius, and Libra. Fire signs include Leo, Aries, and Sagittarius. It is not critical to meditate on a specific Goddess when the moon is in the recommended astrological sign however, we have found that utilizing the lunar currents facilitates an easier access to the energies of each individual Goddess.

After locating what sign the moon is in choose one of the Goddesses to meditate on. Notice what Her Goddess wisdom-gifts are and if they appeal to you. When feeling vulnerable, for example, Isis is the ideal Goddess to invoke as She is very loving and nurturing. When you feel the need for empowerment Sekhmet might be the choice, while Ma-at helps us make decisions based on truth and justice. Gather the appropriate Goddess card, symbols, incense, and candles. Place them upon the alter. Wear Her colour, imagine that YOU ARE THE GODDESS and embody Her Form. See through Her eyes and listen to Her wisdom.

Soul Mantrum

Egyptian Ba bird illustration, symbol of the Soul

" I AM A SHINING BEING AND A DWELLER IN THE LIGHT.

MY TRUE WILL IS IN MY HEART.

MY SOUL RADIATES LOVE LIKE A SHINING STAR.

I AM A PURE ONE. "

Imagine a brilliant white star 6 inches above the crown of your head - this is your Soul Star, an extension of your soul. As you state this mantra link up to this star to the highest point and feel the soul star activate and radiate light and energy, Speak aloud this mantra, pausing after each line. These affirmations will assure that your meditation will be conducted with the highest most spiritual intent. If at any time you feel your intent wavering, link up mentally to the Soul Star and bask in the brilliant pure light.

Grounding

Before beginning the meditation practice it is very important to center and ground ourselves deep within the earth. Imagine a cord or root system extending downward from the base of your spine and sinking deep within the earth. The roots extend downward as well as spreading outward. This anchors us to the planet, acts as a center of strength within us, and creates a solid foundation to work from. Grounding provides us a channel through which energies flow. Excess energies build up during the meditation may be safely channeled downwards through this pathway to provide healing energies to the earth. You may also draw upon earth's vitality by raising energy upward from the center of the earth through the cord/root system to nourish and replenish yourself.

Sacred Space

Creating sacred space is the formal beginning of our ritual meditation.

This is done by casting a circle of light energy about the room in which

we are meditating and inviting the goddesses to protect and purify the

area within the circle. We are creating an energy form, an invisible

boundary that defines and limits the area in which we are meditating.

Within the cast circle is our sacred space - that place between the

worlds where barriers of time, space, and matter dissolve  - where we

commune with the spiritual realms.

The Alter, Candles, & Incense

The alter is the center of our sacred space, the point of transformation where earth connects with spirit. Here we place our sacred objects, symbols, and offerings to the Goddess. The alter can be as simple as a coffee table or as elaborate as a carved chest. On it we place 2 candles, an incense burner, a lighter or matches, our sacred tool ( an implement used to focus and direct outward the power within you ), an offering to honour the goddess ( flowers, crystal, or fruit ), any special power objects ( such as a crystal or feather ) and symbols of the specific Goddess

whom we are about to meditate on. This includes the appropriately coloured candles and fragrance of incense, along with the meditation card of the Goddess.

Gather all these objects and place them upon the alter before beginning your meditation. Light the candles and incense. You are now ready to begin...

Invoking the Goddess

Egyptian Goddess introducing Meditation technique of linking with the Soul Star

We invoke the Goddess by stating our intent for the meditation and by drawing in the air the ancient hieroglyph (symbol ) of Her name.

Stand facing east with your alter in front of you and state out loud "GREAT GODDESS_______________ ( state name of chosen Goddess you wish to invoke ) I SEEK TO LINK MY CONSCIOUSNESS UP TO YOUR HIGH VIBRATION. I SEEK TO UNDERSTAND MORE ABOUT YOU AND WHAT YOU SYMBOLIZE. I SEEK YOUR KNOWLEDGE, WISDOM, AND BLESSINGS, ANCIENT ONE. PLEASE BLESS ME WITH YOUR PRESENCE."

Feel free to state any specific request from the Goddess such as healing, spiritual insight, guidance, her love etc. As you are stating out loud the chosen Goddess and your intent, take your sacred tool ( or pointed index finger ) and draw in the air the ancient hieroglyph of the chosen Goddess you seek to meditate on. The hieroglyph for each Goddess is located on each of the meditation cards. You may now sit down and begin your meditation.

Meditation

We meditate by placing ourselves in a comfortable seated position with back straight and body in alignment. Relax and close your eyes. Become aware of your breathing. With each outbreath release the cares and worries of the day. With each inbreath absorb the pure spiritual nourishing qualities of the energies of the Goddess. Inbreath and outbreath. When you feel relaxed and receptive you may begin to experience dream like visions, meet with your spiritual teachers, conduct a dialogue with the Goddess, experience bodily sensations (tingling, heat ), become aware of subtle psychic currents about you or within you. You are connecting to and are part of a vast spiritual realm on the inner planes. You will experience a very personal journey within yourself. If at any time you feel your attention wandering or experience anything that feels uncomfortable to you, link up with your Soul Star, your Highest Point,  and merge into the pure white light of your soul. When it is time to complete your meditation ( 15 - 20 minutes ) and return to the physical realm, you may find it helpful to ground yourself - to connect with the earth. Allow yourself time to do this. Any excess energies may now be channeled deep into the earth to aid in the healing of the planet. You may expand your channeling of this spiritual energy by imagining the earth surrounded by brilliant pure light.

Egyptian woman offering gratitude for experiencing wisdom and blessing from Goddesses

You have now completed your meditation. It is time to thank the Goddess for her blessings, to thank Isis and her Sisters of Light for their protection and to open the circle. Walk sun-wise ( clock-wise direction ) to the eastern quarter of the circle. Thank the specific Goddess you invoked and ask for her blessings and aid.

Then with your sacred tool or pointed index finger cut the circle of light energy surrounding the area by moving your hand in an upward motion and state " MAY THIS TEMPLE BE CLOSED. "
